The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid gets an average 41 MPG in the city. The instrument cluster in the new Fusion will teach the driver how to be more efficient, which will result in better fuel economy. The cluster has an “Efficiency Forest” which will grow when the car is driven at optimal levels and the forest will disappear when your driving style changes for worse. The integrated Navigation System also moonlights as a Hybrid Energy Flow Display. This display will help you track the 5 modes of the Fusion’s Hybrid Powertrain: electric drive, hybrid drive, electric boost, idle charging, and regenerative braking. The regenerative braking feature uses wasted energy from braking to recharge the batteries that power the electric engine. The Fusion Hybrid can run totally on electric power during certain city driving instances which means almost no fuel is used. This means lower emissions and fewer trips to the gas station. The Interior of the Fusion Hybrid also received the Eco-Friendly treatment. The seats are made from 85% post-industrial yarns which would have ended up in landfills.
