OC Businesses Get Opportunity to Visit with Seth Godin
OC Businesses gather to gawk at Seth Godin at the St. Regis recently where Godin spoke about his new book, Linchpin.

The master of marketing graced Orange County with his presence on Thursday, February 11 for his promotion of his newest book, Linchpin. This event took place at the beautiful St. Regis Hotel in Dana Point. LinkedOC and Skip1.org helped introduce the event and began with both touching and funny stories. Santa Margarita Ford was one of the sponsors that helped support the event. Tickets were sold out within days at every price with over 500 people in attendence.
Orange County was lucky enough to have such an individual speak at an event because Mr. Godin is a bit of a recluse, choosing to spend his time close to home on the East Coast and only occasionally traveling to the West Coast for the TED conference and a few speaking engagements.
Seth Godin was poignant, quirky and humourous thanks to his constant use of fascinating slides during his presentation. The premise of Linchpin is for individuals to become indispensable to his or her career or company. These are the people that invent, lead, connect others, amek things happen and create order in a seemingly chaotic workplace. These people delight and challenge their co-workers, often loving their work, pouring themselves whole-heartedly into it and create new art everyday. The linchpins in organizations ignore their aptly worded "lizard brain" and fight through the fear to become essential building blocks for their companies. Linchpin has become part of the New York Times Business Best Seller List, staking its claim as a must-read for any individual in any type of organization.
Skip1.org is a nonprofit organization that helps various causes, in particular for this event, the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
